TEHRAN: Mahmood Basiri, a renowned Iranian actor and Ahmedinejad look-alike revealed that he was banned from acting during the dual terms of former Iranian president Mahmood Ahmedinejad.
In an interview with Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) the actor opened up that he received a phone call from some lawyers who told him that he can no longer act , back in 2005Â when Ahmedinejad was elected as president of Iran.
Basiri said he took the news as a joke or a rumor but soon the rumors turned into reality and he was banned from acting. Much to his misfortune, Ahmedinejad was elected for another term and the ban upon him was prolonged.
He complained that after the ban, even his photos were removed from the clips of his Television shows and informed media that he will not play the role of Ahmedinejad until the former president formally allows him. Mahmood Basiri is 66 years old and is known for his comic roles in a long acting career and is 10 years elder than Mahmood Ahmedinejad.
