ISLAMABAD: Reacting hardly over linking linking $ 33 million aid with release of Dr. Shakil Afridi, Pakistan expresses her dismay over the bill signed by Barack Obama.
Tasneem Aslam, spokesperson of Foreign Office of Pakistan, was of the view that Afridi was a Pakistani citizen who had violated national laws.
In a statement, she said that Shakil Afridi assistance in US operation to kill Osama Bin Laden had cause an immense damage to polio campaign across the country.
“His case is sub-judice and he remains entitled to due process under the law,” she further said.
“Any linkage of US aid to this case is not in favour of the spirit of the both countries’ cooperation.
“Pakistan and the United States are engaged in building a close‚ cooperative relationship‚ based on mutual respect and mutual interest.”
US lawmakers have passed a bill to link the US aid with release of Afridi, who was running polio campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and assisted US to trace Osama.
