NAPIER: New Zealand has defeated India by 24 runs in the first One-Day International at McLean Park in New Zealand.
Indian Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and opted to field-first against New Zealand.
Kiwi’s batsmen taking bat-first had set the massive 292 runs target against Indian bowlers in 50 overs.
Kiwi side batsman Kane Williamson made 71 runs before losing his wicket to spinner Jadeja, another batsman Corey Anderson scored 68 runs not out and Rose Taylor made 55 runs.
Indian fast-bowler Mohammed Shami gave great performance and took four wickets giving 55 runs in 9 overs.
While batting, Indian team managed to score only 268 runs and lost its all wickets in 48.4 overs in first ODI against New Zealand.
Indian batsman Virat Kohli played the splendid inning and made his 18th century of the career.
Kohli had scored a total of 123 runs but his century failed to get victory for team. Indian skipper Dhoni scored just 40 runs and lost his wicket to Kiwi bowler Mitchell McClenaghan.
New Zealander bowler McClenaghan gave the great performance to pick up 4 wickets.
Anderson got the ‘Man of the Match for his swashbuckling 68 runs followed by 2-51 with the ball.
