Islamabad: Pakistan’s foreign ministry on Thursday has said that Pakistan and the United States (US) ready to review their strategic dialogue process.
Foreign office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at a weekly news briefing that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the US President Barack Obama agreed on restarting a fresh round of the ministerial level strategic dialogue.
She said that Sartaj Aziz, advisor to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on foreign affairs and national security and the US Secretary of State John Kerry will co-chair strategic review meeting.
She further said that there were five groups for cooperation in different sectors include law enforcement and counter-tourism, economics and finance, energy, security, strategic stability and non-proliferation and defence consultative group.
The last session of the strategic dialogue was held in 2010 but the process was stopped due to tension in the relationship over several issues, including the unilateral US military raid that killed Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden
