ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Social Justice Party chief Akhtar Shah on Tuesday has filed a petition in the special court; stating that use of word ‘traitor’ for ex-Army chief Pervez Musharraf should be prohibited.
A petition was filed to the Special Court hearing treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf, seeking prohibition of word ‘traitor’ for the ex-army chief.
The petition was filed by chief of Pakistan Social Justice Party, Akhtar Shah, stating that use of the word ‘traitor’ is tantamount to demoralizing Pakistan’s army. The petitioner appealed the court not to use the word for former military chief Pervez Musharraf.
The 70-year old Musharraf, who is also chief of his party – All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) – has been accused of abrogating the Constitution and imposing emergency in 2007. He has been granted bail in all cases he was facing since arrival in Pakistan in March 2013.
Nowadays, the former military supremo is under treatment in Rawalpindi’s military hospital for heart problems. He was taken to the hospital with chest pain while on his way to face treason charges in a special court last week.
The special court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, resumed the case hearing today.
