RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar claimed to start dialogue with the Taliban in the coming days as the federal government put the matter in its top priority.
Talking to media after inauguration of passport office complex in Rawalpindi on Tuesday ‚ The Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that negotiations with militants is a top priority of the government and a comprehensive team has been constituted for the purpose.
He said the whole nation and all the institutions are united to defeat terrorism and extremism. The Minister denied that any operation is underway in North Waziristan.
He said dialogue process is also underway in Balochistan and the provincial Chief Minister is the focal person for the purpose.
To a question Nisar Ali Khan said the situation has improved in Karachi due to the ongoing targeted operation against criminals. A meeting chaired by Prime Minister the other day also decided to take action against the street crime.
To another question, he said the first draft of National Security Policy has been prepared and it will now be placed before the Cabinet Committee on National Security and later in the Cabinet for approval.
Earlier‚ inaugurating the newly constructed Passport office , Nisar Ali said modern passport offices will be established at all district headquarters and passport with ten year expiry will be issued from today (Wednesday).
