ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy has rejected local media reports regarding Ambassador Richard Olson’s meeting request with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for opening discussion on ongoing protests.
The US Embassy has refutes reports that the U.S. Ambassador to Islamabad had requested a meeting with PTI leader Imran Khan to discuss the protests, but that Mr. Khan had refused the request.
No such meeting request was made.
Embassy officials do meet regularly with people from different segments of society including opposition politicians as a part of their normal diplomatic responsibilities.
The Ambassador has met with PTI’s leadership on various occasions, however no such meeting was requested recently.
