Washington: Motorola is now selling recently launched Motorola Moto G unlocked for $179.99 in US.
The company unveiled its new Moto G in mid-November and it’s a very impressive smartphone. Motorola decided to create a handset that uses some of the latest high-end features (does not include a 4G LTE radio) and manages to offer them at a truly affordable price.
The Moto G is a very capable Android smartphone and its price is priced for the masses. The 4.5-inch 720p display and quad-core processor are among its strong suits, but the major highlight of the Moto G can be found it the very attractive pricing.
Motorola is selling the smartphone unlocked for $179 8GB and $199 16GB. These prices offer consumers an impressive smartphone that can compete with some of the heavy hitters but you will also be giving up 4G LTE speeds, as the Moto G ships with a 3G radio in order to keep costs down.
Motorola had announced that it would begin selling the Moto G in the U.S. in early January, but the company surprised everyone by making the unlocked smartphone available to U.S. customers now through its online store. When the phone hits carriers in the future the price will likely be free with a new 2-year contract, as we’re seeing the phone on offer in other countries.
The Moto G features a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 LCD display with a pixel density of 329 pixels per inch (ppi). Motorola has chosen to use a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with MSM 8×26, Adreno 305 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 1GB of RAM. It uses a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 4x digital zoom, slow motion video, panorama, and tap-to-focus, and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat.
Motorola is offering the Moto G in 8GB or 16GB of internal storage and 50GB of Google Drive storage for 2 years. The smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but Motorola has already announced that it will roll out an update to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat in January.
As previously mentioned, the handset’s wireless connectivity options include 3G GSM radio (will support AT&T and T-Mobile), as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The handset uses a 2,070 mah non-removable battery. The company has also brought some of the Moto X’s customization options to the Moto G by creating interchangeable back plates that can be snapped on and off to change the look of the phone.
You can order the unlocked Moto G from Motorola for $179 8GB and $199 16GB. Shipping begins on Dec. 2. The CDMA version of the smartphone will become available in January.
