Islamabad: As time now has come for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to announce regarding the appointments of Pakistan’s new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), he held seperate meetings with the two Lieutenant Generals Rashid Mahmood and Raheel Sharif on Wednesday early morning here.
For this purpose, Lieutenant General Rashid Mehmood and Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif called on the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif separately in Islamabad today (Wednesday).
PM Sharif had an exchange of views on the national security and professional matters.
They also discussed prevailing national security issues.
The reports further said that Sharif will also host a farewell dinner reception in the honour of the outgoing Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani here at PM House Wednesday,
The Prime Minister is now all set to announce the name of the country’s new Chief of Army Staff.
Members of the Federal Cabinet will attend the event where Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaza Sharif’s presence is also expected.
Lieutenant General Rashid Mehmood is currently working as a Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to Gen Kayani – Chief of General Staff (CGS) while the Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif is working as a Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to Gen Kayani Inspector General Training and Evaluation (IGT&E)
