Islamabad: Ameer Jamiat Ulema Pakistan Sami Ul Haq has filed a petition against Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharifin the Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding the contempt of court for not taking action against US drone attacks after a clear verdict by Peshawar High Court.
He explained his stance that the high court had issued a verdict against the US drone attacks and directed the Foreign Minister to move a resolution in the UN against such attacks.
He further said in the petition that the Chief Justice PHC Justice Dost Muhammad Khan ruled that drone strikes were illegal inhuman and a violation of the UN charter on human rights. The court observed that the strikes must be declared a war crime as they kill innocent people. The PHC ordered the government to contact International War Crime Tribunal (IWCT) over the issue.
