Hangu: Three security officials were killed in an attack by militants on a checkpoint in Shawai tehsil of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) situated in northwest Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday.

Attack on security forces in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has significantly increased after hardline commander Mullah Fazlullah took charge of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), vowing revenge for the killing of the organisation’s chief Hakimullah Mehsud in a US drone strike on November 1.
Three attacks took place on Friday in Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar, killing two security personnels and injuring at least eight others.
Earlier, a hand grenade attack on a house in Bamkhel area of Swabi killed a woman and injured four people.
