KARACHI: Sindh Assembly unanimously condemned controversial statement of Jamaat E Islami Pakistan Chief Syed Munawar Hasan.
The Pakistan’s provincial assembly of Sindh on Monday has approved censure resolution against controversial statement of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hassan.
The controversy began when a prominent politico-religious party, Jamaat-e-Islami, chief Munawar Hassan called the slain Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud a ‘martyr.’
All the other political parties of Sindh protested on JI Chief’s statement and demanded apology from him. The resolution was passed by Mutahaida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s Iram Farooq and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN)’s Irfanullah Marwat and condemned statement of Munawar Hasan.
According to the resolution, the JI Chief must give unconditional apology and also take back his statement. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s leader Sharmila Farooqi said that Jamaat e Islami is a group of Islamic militants and it should be banned. She also criticized PTI saying that they also have links with the terrorists.
