PESHAWAR: As he remains adamant not to leave the party post, speakership of Asad Qaiser has been challenged in Peshawar High Court (PHC.
If PHC takes any decision against the dual posts then he has to leave one post: either speakership of KPK Assembly or his party post
The dual posts were challenged under Article 199 of the constitution by parliamentary leader of Awami National Party, former ruling party in the province, Sardar Hussain Babak.
He has argued that Asad can enjoy two posts at a time. Asad is the president of KPK chapter of his party, Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI), and has been pressurized several times to leave the party post, a thing he has refused strongly.
“We have raised this issue right after the start of new assembly. Now he has been executing political activities too, a thing a speaker should never do,” Babak said.
The dual post is also a hot issue inside the ranks of PTI, whose executive council had also taken up the issue in its meetings.
