Washington: Software giant Microsoft accidently reveals the release date and price of Nokia’s flagship phablet Nokia Lumia 1520.
According to reports, Microsoft added the device for pre-order through its retail store before quickly removing it.
Nokia officially announced its first Windows Phone phablet when it unveiled the Lumia 1520 last month at Nokia World. It also revealed that AT&T would be the exclusive carrier of the smartphone in the U.S., but did not say when it would launch or at what price.
Thanks to Microsoft, we now know when the AT&T Lumia 1520 will be released and how much the carrier plans on charging for the handset.
Microsoft posted a pre-order page for the AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 on its online store before quickly removing the entry. We managed to capture a screenshot, which shows the phablet will be released on Nov. 15 and it will retail for $199 when signing a new 2-year contract with the carrier.
The AT&T Nokia Lumia 1520 features a 6-inch 1080 x 1920 Full HD 1080P ClearBlack display that is also readable in the sunlight and can be used with gloves. The smartphone uses a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM to provide a fluid user experience. The Lumia 1520 includes 16GB of internal storage and users will be able to increase the device’s storage through its expansion slot that will support up to 32GB microSD cards.
Its camera capabilities will include a high-end 20-megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss Optics (currently found on the Lumia 1020), optical image stabilization (OIS), as well as enhanced settings and imaging features. It also comes with Microsoft Office, Nokia Music, Camera, and more built-in. It will be available in choice of yellow, glossy red, white, or black. Nokia has packed in a large non-removable 3,400 mAh battery to power the smartphone.
It’s unclear when Microsoft or AT&T will officially begin taking pre-orders for the Lumia 1520, but considering the reported Nov. 15 release date is right around the corner, which means we should expect to hear something official very soon. We’ll keep you updated as soon as more information becomes available.
