KARACHI: After introducing a bill for only ‘one-dish’ party on wedding ceremony, prominent lady parliamentarian Sharmilla Farooqi has failed to defend a lavish ceremony within the jurisdiction of historic Sindh Assembly Building.
“The bill has just been introduced in the assembly and it has yet to be passed. Otherwise the organizers (Agha Siraj Durrani) could have been punished,” she said while expressing her views conducting of valima ceremony of speaker Sindh Assembly’s nephew.
The outspoken female politician expressed her ignorance from any law regarding holding or not holding such events within the assembly building, which is considered as a heritage.
Last night the historic building got sparkled with fancy lights during the valima ceremony of Abdul Wassey, nephew of Siraj Durrani.
However, Siraj defended the decision saying everyone could see the the book of laws of the assembly.
“I am thankful to media for giving me such hype after a long time,” Â he said with glowing cheeks and smiling face while talking with newsmen outside the assembly building.
“Such events are regular to be held in Governor House, Chief Minister House and other buildings,” he further said.
The party guests enjoyed not one, not two but at least nine delicious and mouth watering dishes during the luxurious event.
