BAHALWALPUR: Pakistan has exhibited its anti-drone technology by successfully hunting down the targets on Monday during practices of Pakistan Army’s ‘Azm-e-Nau 4’ military exercises in Khairpur Tameywali near Bahawalpur.
Pakistan Army claimed successful exhibition of targeting drone via anti-aircraft gun in presence of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was accompanied by the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the Special Advisor to PM on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sirtaj Aziz.
Infantry squads, artillery while Pakistan Air Force (PAF)’s fighter jets including F-16, F17, thunder and cobra helicopters participated in the Azm-e-Nau 4 exercise as well as multi-barrel rocket launcher was also exhibited on the event.
PM Nawaz Sharif addressed the concluding ceremony of the event, said that the time went off when foreign policies were finalised on telephone calls.
He said that it is a democratic government that facilitates for the manufacture of Al-Zarrar and Al-Khalid tanks as well as JF-17 Thunder aircrafts.
It was the same democracy that made the nation nuclear power. The Prime Minister lauded the professionalism of the Army in the exercises and said this shows that our security is in safe hands.
Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan’s military strategy is based on credible minimum deterrence and highest state of preparedness.
The Prime Minister said our democratic system‚ economic potential‚ vibrant population‚ national unity and professional armed forces provide strategic stability to the south Asian region, Radio Pakistan reported.
He said it has to be understood that economic development is closely linked to peace and security‚ as stable economic environment facilitates growth and development.
The Prime Minister said during his recent visit abroad‚ he made it very clear that Pakistan does not want financial aid but intends to maintain foreign relations on the basis of bilateralism while‚ at the same time‚ safeguarding its political‚ economic and national sovereignty.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan also made its position clear that drone strikes constitute violation of its sovereignty and violation of international humanitarian laws besides being counter-productive to our efforts for bringing peace and stability to Pakistan and the region.
The Prime Minister said his Government is firmly resolved to bringing the cycle of bloodshed and violence to an end; however‚ this can neither be done overnight nor can it be done by unleashing senseless force against our citizens without first making every effort to bring miscreants and confused elements of the society back to the mainstream.
He said we have to ensure that the political parties‚ military and civil society are on the same page so as to create an enabling environment necessary to tackle this menace. It was to this end that in an extraordinary expression of national unity and cohesion‚ the APC underlined the imperative need of giving peace a chance. He said unity among all stakeholders including political parties‚ armed forces‚ executive‚ judiciary‚ parliament and media is very much required in these difficult times. He said no one wants any further bloodshed.
The Prime Minister said our armed forces have contributed to making the defence of the country impregnable.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said today Pakistan is faced with serious challenges both within the country and at international level. He said national security paradigm of Pakistan evolves within the context of its geography‚ history and culture and determines the contours of national and military response.
He said there were times when national security policies were determined through telephone calls from abroad. He said the democratically elected Government decided to make this nation a nuclear power and indigenously manufacture JF-17 Thunder aircraft and Al-Khalid and Al-Zarrar tanks.
The Prime Minister lauded the professionalism of the Army in the exercises and said this shows that our security is in safe hands.
Earlier, Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited formations of Central Command engaged in field training as part of Army Field Exercise near Kharian, and witnessed maneuvers involving Corps and Division size offensive operations during day and night.
COAS appreciated the high state of morale and training standard displayed by participating troops and urged all ranks to maintain their combat efficiency to meet future challenges.
Army Field Exercise, Azm- e- Nau-4 is the final phase of validating newly evolved concepts and concluded on November 4 (today).
