ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister of Pakistan, Chaudhry Nisar on Saturday said Pakistan will review ties and cooperation with United States as it tried to sabotage the process of peace talks between the government of Pakistan and Taliban.
Talking to the media persons here, he appealed that TTP should show tolerance over the killing of their leader as the government of Pakistan had also suffered the killing of Pakistani citizens in bomb attacks.
Nisar said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) along with other political parties supported the dialogue process with the Taliban as they have concerns.
He added that the killing of TTP leader is the great lost in the peace process.
Then interior minister also revealed that this news conference had been originally scheduled to announce a major development with regard to peace talks.
Chaudhry Nisar said Ullmah’s three members delegation were ready to meet Taliban in the same area of Data kheal today and top leadership of Taliban knows that the delegation was coming for the peace negotiations.
He also told the newsmen that the Foreign office had summoned the US ambassador to serve him with a démarche.
Earlier, Nisar Ali Khan had chaired a high-level meeting today in the wake of TTP Chief Hamkimullah Mehsud was killed in a US drone strike.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, PM’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, officials of security agencies, Foreign and Interior Secretaries.
The situation in the country following the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud and the process of holding talks with the Taliban were being discussed.
The TTP chief and his close aides were killed in a US drone strike in North Waziristan. A spokesman for TTP South Waziristan confirmed the killing of Hakimullah. The spokesman added that there had been no decision on Hakimullah’s successor and the Taliban shura was expected to announce one within 2-3 days.
