ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formally announced initiation of local bodies’ polls from the Balochistan province on December 7.
Secretary ECP Ishtiaq Ahmed on Thursday has announcement commencement of electoral season in Pakistan but from one province, Balochistan on 7th of December.
While talking to media in Islamabad, Ishtiaq Ahmed also provided some excuses from their electoral department for polling process’ delay in other provinces of Pakistan.
He added that the Punjab’s provincial government affirmed completing the delimitation on November and the Sindh’s government gave completion date on November 13.
Ahmed said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan will be informed by the difficulties facing by the ECP for holding local bodies’ poll on given time.
It should be mentioned that the Punjab and the Balochistan governments had announced the suggested date for holding the election on December 7 while Sindh government announced November 27.
The ECP’s secretary said that organization the local bodies’ election is about 2.5 percent bigger exercise as compare to general election.
However, he added that order has been issued to the printing corporation for making of 500 million ballot papers.
