Washington: Sony’s flagship smartphone Sony Xperia Z1 getting ready to get the taste of upcoming version of Android 4.4 KitKat.
According to reports, the Sony Xperia Z1 (Honami) may get the Android 4.4 KitKat software update in November this year.
Sony has launched a number of top-end smartphones in 2013, including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z Ultra and the Xperia Z1 (launched at the IFA event in Berlin in September this year).
A recent report suggests that the latest Xperia Z1 will be the first to receive the Android 4.4 KitKat software update in November.
“Most favorite and anticipated Android version which is 4.4 Kit-Kat will hit the Sony’s latest flagship that was launched at the IFA 2013 in Berlin Xperia Z1.
Company is working on its update platform and will roll out Android 4.4 updates in November to its devices.
November 7th is the date for the Xperia Z1 according to the rumors and after that, Sony will release this new update to its other smartphones,” reports AndroidSaS.
Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat in September, but details of the smartphones set to receive the latest operating system remains unknown. The Nexus range of smartphones and tablets will undoubtedly be the first devices to get the software update, followed by other Android-powered devices.
The Xperia Z1 is packed with high-end hardware specifications and comes pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. If rumors are to be believed, the handset would have to skip Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and get Android 4.4 KitKat instead.
Google has not yet officially confirmed the new features and enhancements Android 4.4 KitKat will bring to devices. However, the software release may bring along new security updates and bug fixes to Android devices.
The company has not yet revealed the release date for the operating system either, but Android smartphones launched in 2013 should get the latest software in the near term. Google is expected to launch the rumored Nexus 5 on Oct. 14 and speculations suggest that the upcoming smartphone will be the first device to come pre-loaded with Android 4.4 KitKat.
If you own a Sony Xperia Z1, are you waiting for Android 4.4 KitKat to be rolled out to your handset?
