Chairing a meeting in the Ministry of Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has directed that all 2002 passports issued in violation of rules should be immediately cancelled. Criminal and corrupt elements within FIA and Islamabad Police should be identified and weeded out, Kachi/Enchrouched Abbadis should be immediately registered and further Police Operation should be carried out in these areas to cleanse it of all criminal elements, Islamabad Administration should remove corrupt revenue and administrative officers from ICT, and FIA should immediately chalk out an emergency plan to NAB for human Traffickers and those involved in illegal immigration.
The Chief Commissioner ICT informed the meeting about the campaign to curb drugs and adulteration and stated that licenses of 6 drug stores have been suspended, one license cancelled and 2 drug stores have been sealed as per the directives of the Minister.
The Minister directed the Chief Commissioner to check hotels and restaurants including Five Star Hotels and Dhabas within the region to ensure that there is no adulteration in food or beverages and a minimum level of cleanliness be maintained.
The Minister noted the hard work of the Police Department with the satisfaction of the recent Police operation in I-11sector and directed that all unregistered Kachi Abbadis in and around Islamabad must be dually accounted and registered. It must be ensured that no criminal activity originates from the area and no one takes refuge in it.
The Minister further directed to widen this activity to other encroached areas of Islamabad. It was noted with satisfaction that the Islamabad Police is carrying out its responsibilities without fear or favour and without being cowed down by anybody’s stature or official position.
The Traffic Police informed the Minister that Islamabad Police has handed down traffic violation tickets to VIP’s including MNA/MPAs, Provincial Ministers, Civil and Military officers and officials from the judicial service.
The DG Immigrations and Passport briefed the Minister about the performance and initiatives launched by his directorate. The Minister categorically stated that the blue passports will be issued to entitled persons only, and there will be no relaxation of rules in this regard.
DG Immigration and Passports further mentioned that a computerized check has been placed on the process of issuing blue passports to curb its misuse in future. He also briefed the Minister that facilitation/information desks have been established at the regional offices to register the complaints of the general public and to facilitate them.
The Chairman NADRA presented his report on his visit to Awaran-Balochistan in background of the relief work being conducted by the department in the earthquake affected region on the directives of Federal Minister for Interior .He stated that NADRA mobile vehicles had started operating to re-issue CNICs to those who have lost their identity documents. He also informed about the door-to-door damage assessment is being conducted by the authority.
The Minister was also briefed about the installation of e-tag service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Chairman NADRA informed that e-tag service at Rawat toll plaza, with two lanes, has started to function and 55 commuters have applied for the issuance of e-tags. While the civil work has been going on at the Golra entry point and would start functioning by the end of this month.
The representative of FIA briefed the Minister that 14 high profile human traffickers have been arrested and 6 persons charged for forgery have also been taken under custody.
