Washington: Dell joins tablet market race as company announced to Venue 7 and Venue 8 tablets.
The tablets cost up to $149 and $179 respectively. Dell is looking to get back into the Android.
It’s been a few years since Dell has released an Android device. The company is following the current trend of PC manufacturers releasing Android slates in addition to Windows-based ones. Dell’s latest tablets have decent specs, come in two sizes, and both feature Intel processors and low price of admission.
The Dell Venue 7 will feature a 7-inch 1280 x 800 in plane switching (IPS) LCD display. It will be powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 Clover Trail+ dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It will include 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 32GB microSD cards for additional memory. It’s packing a 3-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera for video chat. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, ships with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and will retail for $149.
The Dell Venue 8 will use an 8-inch 1280 x 800 in plane switching (IPS) LCD display. The tablet will be powered by a 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 Clover Trail+ dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM. It will include 16GB of internal storage and a microSd expansion slot that will support up to 32GB microSD cards to increase storage. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for video chat. It comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, and will retail for $179.
The Venue 8’s $179 price point makes it one of the cheapest 8-inch tablets currently on the market. Dell is looking to target 7-inch and 8-inch Android rivals such as Google’s Nexus 7, Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HDX, Samsung Galaxy Tab and others, and it’s using the Venue tablets’ price point as a major feature that it hopes will attract customers looking for a low-priced Android tablet.
The Dell Venue 7 and Venue 8 will be released on October 18 for $149 and $179, respectively, and will be available for purchase through the company’s online store.
