ISLAMABAD: Majority of Pakistanis are getting contaminated water with contaminators like micro-biological, Arsenic, Fluoride and Nitrate.
Only 23 percent of people living in urban areas of the country and only 14 percent rural population is getting safe drinking water, a research survey revealed.
Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) has concluded this after an extensive survey of Pakistan’s 12,000 water schemes.
The survey took enough sweat of PCRWR teams to visit 96 districts to find out the water situation in the country.
The teams found that 72 percent water schemes are functional and providing safe drinking water to 23 percent and 14 percent rural population.
The good thing about the survey is after the extensive research PCRWR develops a number of cost effective measures for making water safe for drinking.
The measures include water testing kits‚ safe water filter‚ water disinfection tablets and drinking water treatment sachets.
