NEW YORK: The Indian National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon has said that today’s meeting between the Indo-Pak Prime Ministers was useful and they discussed many important issues for the initiation of firm relationship, The News Tribe reported on Sunday.
Talking to media persons in a press conference after the meeting, Shivshankar said that establishment of cross border trade have been discussed in the meeting and both PMs invited each other to visit their countries.
The advisor said that there was no discussion on decrement in defense budget of both sides and no agenda decided yet for the next meeting.
He agreed that positive efforts should be taken to solve the problems facing by the neighbouring countries.
Shivshankar said Nawaz Sharif highlighted the issues of Siachen and Sir Creek as well as given a positive response to take action against Bombay attacks. He added that cross border terrorism was the main part of discussion.
Answering to a query Shivshankar said the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both countries have given the task to call a meeting on ceasefire on Line of Control (LoC).
He avoided giving answer to the question that whether India is agreed with stance of Pakistan as Nawaz Sharif offered for formulating a commission for commencement of inquiry on recent cross firing incidents took place on LoC under the United Nations (UN).
