NEW YORK: The Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has rejected the reservations on Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline as US restrictions cannot be imposed on the project.
The Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline project was approved during the last few months in the tenure of former President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, which subsequently resulted emergence of serious reservations from US authorities.
However, The Pakistan PM said that particular restrictions by US government on Iran due to alleged nuclear programme cannot be imposed over the gas pipeline project and the concerns are totally baseless.
Currently, PM Nawaz Sharif is present in New York for participating in 68th United Nations’ General Assembly session along with his delegation.
While meeting with Iranian President Hasan Rohani, the Pakistan’s PM Sharif said that the ongoing project is favourable for both countries.
He said that Pakistan supports Iran in gaining nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
Moreover, the leaders from Iran and Pakistan also discussed bilateral relations, regional situation, cooperation in different areas and topics on elimination of terrorism.
