KARACHI: Karachi Law and Order hearing case begins in Supreme Court Karachi Registry. A Five member larger bench will be headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to hear the case.
Chief Secretary of Sindh to submit report in Karachi Registry today which states that there are more that 1000 criminals involved in target killing and extortion.
The hearing is currently underway in which Director General of Sindh Rangers, Inspector General Sindh and Additional Inspector General Sindh are also present. The report submitted by the Chief Secretary states that 1,357 people are alleged in the crimes such as extortion, target killing as well as other heinous acts. These people have been arrested over a span of 11 days.
Chief Secretary’s report also stated that the lack of coordination between the Customs and law enforcement agencies is the reason weapon smuggling is reported which is why the situation in the city has turned uncontrollable.
Chief Justice expressed his dissatisfaction and said that despite of orders being issued, nothing was done to provide safety to Wali Khan Babar murder case witnesses. The case is of utmost importance and shouldn’t be left in cold storage. The murders of the witnesses must be caught so that witness protection can be ensured.
