Washington: Search engine giant Google after the success of its flagship device Google Nexus 7 2 now may soon announce another flagship device Google Nexus 5.
The device will be expected to run on Android 4.4 KitKat. The device will likely to make its debut in the month of October, according to reports.
Rumors of the Nexus 5 smartphone have been very frequent in the recent weeks.
Google announced the Nexus 4 in Oct. 2012 and released the handset in November. The smartphone proved to be in very high demand but since the release, the company faced a lot of criticism related to supply issues.
The Oct. 14 date for Nexus 5 release date seems very realistic, as it will be nearly an entire year since the launch of its predecessor (Nexus 4).
“A few different sources are claiming October 14th will be the official release date for the LG Nexus 5, and it will come with Android 4.4 KitKat. Which also means the rest of the Nexus family will likely receive the same chocolaty treat that day and throughout the week,” reports Android Community.
Recently, many hardware specifications and renders of the upcoming Nexus 5 have emerged online and it should not come as a surprise if the company launches the handset in the near term.
The Nexus 4 was very popular because due to its high-end specifications and the affordable price tag it carried.
Previous reports suggest that the next-generation Nexus 5 will pack in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 2GB of RAM. The handset is expected to tout a 5-inch or higher Full HD (1080p) display. The Nexus 5 is also expected to feature a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera.
The Nexus 4 was the first Android phone to be pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and the Nexus 5 will likely be the first Android device to feature the recently=announced Android 4.4 KitKat.
The KitKat flavor of the operating system will bring along new features to Android devices and customers will be eagerly waiting to receive a software update as soon as possible.
Google has not yet announced its plans to launch the Nexus 5 on Oct. 14, so we have to take all rumors with a grain of salt until the official unveiling or launch of the device.
