PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC) takes notice of easy availability of unregistered SIMs in the province.
“Vegetable is difficult to purchase, but SIMs are easily purchasable,” Justice Dost Muhammad Khan observed while taking notice of the illegal mobile connection.
“Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and federal organizations are not ready to take any action against unregistered SIMs,” he further said.
The PHC chief has asked PTA chairman, Chief Executive Officers of Telecoms and Attorney General of Pakistan to explain the whole situation.
The law enforcers have repeatedly said that unregistered SIMs are the main tool of terrorists and criminals across the country. After the use of a SIM, the criminals used to discard it and move over to any other connection.
This has made the arrest of terrorists and criminals a hard task for the lawmakers. But the Telecoms have turned a deaf ear to the law enforcement agencies with no action from the regulatory authorities of the country.
