CHINIOT: At least 17 people were burnt alive as a passenger van caught fire after a head-on collision with a truck here in Chiniot district of Pakistan Punjab province, police and rescue sources said.
The police sources said that the incident took place at Harsa Sheikh, around 20 kilometer away from Chiniot motorway, adding that the driver of the van lost the control of his vehicle and struck with the truck coming from the opposite direction.
“The gas cylinder got leaked and caught fire which engulfed the whole vehicle within few minutes,” they said and added that 17 people including the driver were burnt alive while two others injured.
The rescue team reached at site and pulled out the bodies and injured from the gutted van and shifted them to nearby hospital.
