LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government is taking concrete steps to facilitate the locals with provision of pure drinking water and better drainage in big cities of the province while WASA, the Water and Sanitation Agency, will be reformed by gradual optimisation program in the light of Turkish experts.
CM Shahbaz Sharif urged the immediate resolution for provision of facilities including pure drinking water, sewerage system and drainage to the residents of big cities of Punjab.
Shahbaz Sharif met an envoy of Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, renowned as ISKI, in Lahore in which the participants agreed for cooperation in increasing capacities and introduction of reformation in WASA.
CM Punjab expressed his wishes before the envoy, said that he wants to introduce latest management system for pure drinking water provision as well as sewerage scheme for waste and rain water.
The Turkish municipality corporation will provide assistance in upgradation of old sewerage and drainage systems in Punjab province, moreover, the Turkish department will cooperate in making of short-term plan in coming year in order to precut problems created by monsoon rainfall.
Shahbaz Sharif asked the Turkish envoy members to design a pilot project for the betterment of water supply, sewerage and drainage in Punjab and ensured them to provide maximum facilities.
Replying to the CM Punjab’s, the Turkish representatives assured maximum support for the provincial administration by their experts.
