KARACHI: Reacting strongly on lawlessness within university, Karachi University Teachers Society has decided to sit in complete strike this morning as all classes have to be postponed.
The biggest university of Pakistan University of Karachi decided to call off all the classes on Thursday September 5th. This strike is being carried out against an amendment made in new Sindh University Act 2013 that transferred powers to appoint teachers and Vice Chancellors to Chief Minister Sindh from Governor.
The teachers of Karachi University (KUTS) have rejected the amendment made and has decided to be on one day strike. They said that the status of Vice Chancellors of the university has been turned to that of principal of college.
The other respective departments such as syndicate, senate and academic councils have been completely ignored. All the powers of VC to take decisions will be transferred to provincial government which will increase corruption.
