Seoul: As Samsung closing to launch its third generation phablet Samsung Galaxy Note 3, new images leaked of its upcoming tablet Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2.
The device is scheduled to unpack on IFA event according to rumors.
Reports of a 12.2-inch Samsung tablet have been surfacing in the tech space for a few months. However, this is the first time that an image of the alleged Samsung tablet has leaked, giving us a glimpse of what the device may look like.
In late July, well-known leakster @evleaks tweeted some hardware specifications of two Samsung tablets. The first tablet with model number Samsung SM-P900 is expected to have a 12.2-inch screen with 2560 x 1600 display resolution. An Exynos 5 Octa processor may power the device, which is also expected to include Samsung’s S-Pen stylus.
The recently-leaked image comes courtesy of Move Player and the picture shows the tablet as Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2.
“First off, the device is labeled as the Galaxy Note 12.2, but we’re a bit hesitant on that part though, because all of the previous rumors, and the original source for this image list the device as model SM-P900; and, a “P” in a Samsung tablet model number usually indicates that the device does not have S-Pen support, which would mean it is a Galaxy Tab, not a Galaxy Note,” reports Phone Arena.
Samsung seems all set for the launch of the long-awaited phablet, the Galaxy Note 3, at its Unpacked event scheduled for Sept. 4. Rumors suggest that the Korean company may also launch the 12.2-inch tablet along with the Galaxy Note 3.
The bigger tablet market is currently dominated by iPads. Samsung’s upcoming tablet may face stiff competition from the current iPad 4 as well as the upcoming iPad 5, which is expected to launch in October this year.
Samsung has not confirmed the launch of its new tablets so we will have to take all rumors with a pinch of salt and wait until Sept.4 to see if the company launches the rumored 12.2-inch tablet.
