London: As bad light thresh England hope of winning 5th and final test against Australia, hosts settled with 3-0 victory in the Ashes series.
England with the desperate effort of winning the 5th test, but due to the interruption of bad light the match ended with the draw at that moment when hosts need 21 in 4 overs with 5 wickets reaming.
First Innings:
Earlier Aussies won the toss and elected to bat first. Australia made massive 492 runs on loss of 9 wickets thanks to Shane Watson’s 176 runs along with Steven Smith undefeated 138 runs.
James Anderson pick up 4 wickets for England.
England in reply made 377 runs thanks half centuries from Joe Root’s and Kevin Peitersen.
James Faulkner took 4 wickets on his debut for Australia.
Second Innings:
Australia declared its second innings on 111 runs after having lead 226 runs. Michael Clarke made quick 28 runs while Shane Watson made 26 runs.
Hosts in reply made 206 runs. Kevin Peitersen scored brilliant half century along with Jonathan Trott’s 59 runs. Bad light stopped the match when hosts need 21 in 4 overs with 5 wickets reaming.
James Faulkner pick up 2 wickets for Australia.
Shane Watson was awarded with man of the match for his 176 runs while Ian Bell and Ryan Harris was awarded with man of the series.
