CAIRO: In recent wave of attacks on Morsi supporters, Egyptian authorities have arrested brother of Al-Qaeda head Ayman al-Zawahiri and gunned down Muslim Brotherhood chief’s son.
Egyptian authorities have arrested Mohamed al-Zawahiri, brother of Al-Qaeda head Ayman al-Zawahiri, for supporting ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, a security source told AFP on Saturday.
The brother was arrested in his home district of Giza, adjacent to the capital, the source said.
A son of the leader of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood was killed during protests against the army-backed interim government, the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party said Saturday.
Ammar Badie, son of Mohammed Badie, was shot dead in Cairo’s Ramses Square on Friday, the party statement released on its website.
Egypt’s government stated that 173 persons were killed in Egypt during last 24 hours.
