KARACHI: Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has warned significant increment in load shedding up to 10 to 13 hours a day for its residential, industrial, trade consumers from August 17 over non payment of dues from federal government.
KESC management has incriminated Pakistan’s federal government in the non payment of previous dues of Rs85 billion which resulted freezing of fuel purchasing.
Earlier, the company posted an ad in local newspaper claiming that Government of Pakistan has paid Rs500 billion in term of circulatory loan but excluded payments of KESC.
KESC management said that they requested several times from the federal government for the clearance of only 10 per cent of the outstanding liabilities of Rs85 billion for continuation of electricity supply to Karachiites but no payment has been made till yet.
KESC has used all resources for fuel purchasing and now we have no source for the purchases.
According to KESC statement, KESC is forced to increase duration of load shedding for its residential, industrial, trade consumers from August 17 although it is an unpleasant step but the only solution.
KESC once again requesting to the government to resolve circulatory liabilities’ matter immediately to prevent residents of Karachi and related locals of interior Sindh and Balochistan from load shedding issue.
KESC delegation also met Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Karachi today pertaining recovery of outstanding liabilities of 23 billion rupees against Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
Ishaq Dar assured full cooperation to the delegation in recovering outstanding liabilities of 23 billion rupees against Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.
Chief Executive KESC Nayyar Hussain-led delegation called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Karachi and informed him of the difficulties in the continuation of electric supply to its consumers.
