LAHORE: Pakistan’s Flood Forecasting Division Lahore has issued warning for high level flood in River Indus which is likely to hit different parts of Punjab and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan on Friday.
The forcasting division has declared flood emergency in Taunsa Tehsil of Dera Ghazi Khan district, Sibbi, Naseerabad and Kalat divisions due to expected heavy rain and flood in Indus River.
High level flood in River Indus at Taunsa Tehsil with ranging between 575,000 to 600,000 cubic foot per second (cusecs) is expected for 24 hours from 6:00 pm.
According to the division’s report, high level flood will be continued in the valleys of the rivers of Ravi and Chenab during next twelve hours while flood threats will be decreased Dera Ghazi Khan and in some parts of Balochistan by tomorrow.
The district administration’s spokesperson told the local media that rescue operations has been designed as well as the formation of rescue teams to be sent in low-lying areas for overcoming flood situation.
The spokesperson added flood relief camps have also been set up at fifty government schools in the district.
