Karachi: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has decided to implement local government ordinance in Sindh province despite Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s reservations.
The decision was taken after gaining support and approval by Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Sindh’s nationlists political, sources said.
MQM has decided to stand against local government ordinance 2012 and demanded local bodies election under article 140.
According to MQM leader Syed Sardar Ahmed, the PPP suggested 1979’s ordinance is not comforting them as it can be applicable in Jacobabad, Ghotki and Dadu but not in Karachi.
He further said that MQM is not comfortable with this stance of PPP and want to settle conflicts in a peaceful way.
Sources said that PPP will be successful get the releasing order from Governor Sindh for the implementation of the ordinance on majority basis if MQM shows disagreement.
PPP belonged Senior Minister Nisar Khoro said that 2012 local bodies act was rejected by the people of Sindh which makes it controversial but MQM was with PPP when local act 2001 was abolished, he claimed.
On the other hand, Sindhi nationalists Dr. Qadir Magsi, Syed Jalaluddin Shah and Ayaaz Latif Palijo have supported this 1979’s unlawful act in favour while PPP delegation will meet leaders Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F).
Moreover, ANP’s spokesman Abdul Malik said that ANP agrees upon bringing 1979 ordinance but with a few changes that they have already given to the government.
