ISLAMABAD: Council of Common Interest (CCI) meeting has commenced on Tuesday to finalise most-awaited National Power Policy 2013 and proposed $5.3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan package.
Council of Common Interests (CCI) is holding its first crucial meeting in Islamabad to formalise new energy policy as well as recently agreed bailout loan package‚ with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
All chief ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces and other members of the council will also attend the meeting.
National Power Policy, formed for the elimination of energy crisis across Pakistan, will be produced before the participants of the meeting for finalization to get long-term goals and objectives from the country’s power sector.
It is pertinent to note, the policy has been made after consulting expert power and petroleum sector experts, national and international economists including IMF, World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Recently proposed bailout loan package of $5.3 billion from International Monetary Fund will also be the major part of discussion in the meeting.
Sources closers to officials revealed that federal govt is favouring  40 per cent increment in power tariff on the consumers as the required rise is 60 per cent while the remaining 20 percent would be subsidised.
