ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s prominent journalist and host of a current affairs show Syed Talat Hussain has offered Owen Bennett-Jones — a freelance British journalist and one of the hosts of Newshour on the BBC World Service — to publish his report regarding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and its chief Altaf Hussain on his own website.
In an Urdu language column on his own website Saach.tv, Talat wrote that he had offered the British to publish the report which BBC has refused to publish. He added that Owen Bennett-Jones has not answered to his offer yet.
Earlier on Sunday, BBC’s spokesperson said, “after a deep consultation with a lawyer we have decided not to publish the report of Owen Bennett-Jones on our website.”
The BBC had on-aired a documentary regarding London police’s investigation over the MQM for possible money-laundering and complaints alleging that Altaf Hussain used his base in the UK to incite violence in Pakistan.
Owen Bennett-Jones has prepared a detailed report over the issue and it was to be published on the British organization’s website. However, now the BBC says the report would not be published on its website.
