KARACHI: Bracing up for announcement of sighing of moon for the holy month of Ramadan, Central Ruet e Hilal Committee will be sitting this evening to sight the moon.
The committee is the official body for the official pronouncement of the start of Ramadan in the country, a home of 180 million out of which majority are Muslims.
In Saudi Arabia, the local bodies had announced last night that moon was not sighted, so the Ramadan will start from July 10.
“Astronomical parameters suggest Ramadan moon may not be sighted on July 9 in Pakistan due to unclear weather, therefore, the beginning of holy month may fall on July 10.”
Met department officials say that crescent will not be visible through naked eyes and could be seen only through telescope. So chances are that the Ramadan will start from Thursday July 11.
In Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, the local scholars will be sitting in Masjid Mahabat Khan to collect evidences regarding moon sighting in the province.
