DOHA: Following an adamant approach from Afghan President Hamid Karzai over using flag in Doha’s office, Afghan Taliban closes down their office.
The office was opened about a month ago following a joint effort of Pakistan, United States and Afghan Taliban.
“The reason for closing down the office is not having permission hoisting flag of Taliban,” the sources said.
Karzai has severely criticized the hoisting of Taliban’s flag in Qatar office objecting it to United States. The move from the hardliners will set back the peace negotiations in Afghanistan, suffering from war since 2001.
