ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has made a significant move to eliminate load shedding issue across Pakistan as they paid Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s paused amount of Rs322 billion to private power generating companies.
Pakistani government’s move will reduce duration of load shedding upto 3 hours in a day during Ramadan month.
Spokesperson of federal finance minister Rana Asad Amin said that Pakistani government paid Rs322 billion to independent power producers (IPPs) while we have a debt of Rs502 billion.
The spokesperson added that amount of Rs181 billion will be paid to IPPs before August 11 to sum 1700 mega watts electricity in the system and load shedding ratio will be decreased upto 3 to 3.5 hours on daily basis.
Rana Asad Amin refused the objections raised by Transparency International regarding the payments as all defrayment done after thorough check out.
Moreover, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) said that decrement in rotating credits will help to reduce energy crisis in the Pakistan and positive effects will come out in some weeks.
