TORONTO: Rimsha Masih, a Pakistani Christian girl who faced blasphemy charges in 2012, has sought political asylum in Canada.
According to TheNewsTribe Urdu report, Rimsha Masih, a resident of slum area of Pakistani capital city Islamabad, has reached Canada along with her family.
She was arrested after a local cleric accused her of burning pages of the Holy Quran.
Pakistani court had granted her bail and later blasphemy charges were dropped for want of evidence.
The witnesses had told the judge that the cleric had framed Rimsha Masih in the case.
Islamabad Police was also declared Rimsha Masih innocent as they said that “Police find no evidence against her“.
