Microsoft is set make Xbox 720 universal with the booming smartphone phenomena including its Windows phones and Surface Pro series tablets.
A patent granted to Microsoft shows that it has enabled Kinect to get connected to a smartphone or tablet for gaming and beyond.
Keeping in view of boom of smartphones across the globe, the move is likely to give Xbox 720 an edge over Sony’s PlayStation 4, which is also working to get benefit of smartphone boom.
“According to one of Microsoft’s latest Xbox related patent applications, a user carrying a portable device such as a smartphone, tablet PC, or other similar device, will be able to one day pair it with a tracking system (Kinect) with a simple series of motion gestures in a random pattern,” reports Patent Bolt.
The innovation will work beyond gaming applications as Microsoft states various scenarios of connecting Kinect with portable devices. Two of majors include usage of Kinect as Kiosk and Corporate Security Systems.
