KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has approved circular railway project on Friday which brightened chances for the revival of proposed Mass Rapid Transit System for Karachi.
CM Sindh has chaired the meeting to finalise the circular railway plan which has been approved in last while Sindh’s Finance secretary and railway officials was also present.
According to reports, the project will be accomplished in 5 years in which 43 km protracted railway lines’ network will be laid in Karachi while the Sindh government will investment Rs247 million.
Karachi Circular Railway Project aims to connect several industrial and commercial districts within the city to the outlying suburbs.
Many governments tried to take up the project, but couldn’t execute it successfully resulting in destruction of circular railway system and empowerment of ‘Mini Bus Mafia’
