ISLAMABAD: Newly elected members of provincial assembly (MPAs) took oath in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Sindh assemblies in their first sessions after May 11 election.
The prestigious oath ceremony was administered by outgoing Speaker KPK Kiramatullah Khan where 123 newly-elected MPAs took oath out of 124.
Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) is emerged as the KPK’s largest elected political party after election 2013 by winning 35 seats, while Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) had agreed to collaborate with PTI for the provincial government.
Meanwhile, Speaker Nisar Khuhro administered the oath ceremony of newly-elected Sindh Assembly’s members, 120 MPAs took oath out of 130 general seats in three different languages.
According to ECP results, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has won 66 seats after election, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) took 35, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz having 9, Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) 7 and the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf has three members.
Speaker and Deputy Speaker election will be held on May 30.
