Pakistan’s government has signed an agreement with Chinese bank EXxom to work on hydro-electricity generation project which showed significant progress against electricity crisis.
After the completion of project, Pakistan will be capable to generate at least 969 Mega Watts of electricity while the project is expected to be completed in 2016.
Neelum–Jhelum Hydropower Plant is located in Azad Kashmir, 22 km (14 mi) south of Muzaffarabad, which is an under construction hydroelectric power scheme.
It is pertinent to be notified, Future Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has declared that the exact figure of electricity shortfall is 600 Mega Watts around the country but the maximum capability to generate extra electricity is 1000 Mega Watt only.

Previously, Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) also provided a loan of $40 million to Pakistan for construction of Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower project.
