CALIFORNIA: Samsung and Google’s joint venture Nexus 11 tablet with an 11-in. display that runs Samsung’s octa-core processor will be launched during Google I/O event on May 11.
According to the unconfirmed reports “Samsung has been chosen as the manufacturer for an upcoming Google tablet dubbed the Nexus 11, designed to replace the existing Nexus 10.”
Samsung is likely to at least match if not better the Nexus 10’s impressive 2,560×1,600 resolution. The site’s source expects the device to use Super Plane-to-Line Switching (PLS) technology, a variant of in-plane switching (IPS) which Samsung says provides better viewing angles, increased brightness, better quality and a small amount of flexibility – along with a reduced production cost compared to traditional IPS displays.
Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa 5410 processor is expected to appear behind the panel. Currently exclusive to the Galaxy S4 in selected countries – not including, sadly, the UK – the Exynos 5 Octa processor is the world’s first eight-core ARM chip, using a process the company calls big.LITTLE. This combines four high-performance cores with four low-power cores, giving devices the ability to choose between performance and battery life on the fly. It’s a technology which is largely unproven in the market, but one Samsung is thought to be concentrating on for future products including the Galaxy Note 3 – and, apparently, the Nexus 11.
Google Samsung Nexus Fatures:
The rear of the tablet could get an eight megapixel camera
Two megapixel front sensor for video conferencing
Storage capacity has yet to be confirmed, Tablet will include a micro-SD card slot supporting up to 64GB of additional storage.
Operating System, Android 4.3 or Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie
Processor, Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa 5410 (world’s first eight-core ARM chip)
Screen 11in
Neither Samsung nor Google have confirmed plans to create a Nexus 11, but the specifications certainly seem in-line with Samsung’s previously-announced products. Whether Google will launch the device at its annual Google I/O event on the 15th of May, however, remains to be seen.
