Lahore: Dubbing Imran Khan as chief polling agent of former president and dictator Gen (Retired) Pervez Musharraf, former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif viewed Khan couldn’t separate himself from support of then president during referendum.
“I challenges him (for live debate), but he escaped instead,” former chief minister of Punjab, the most populous province of the country said during a conference in Lahore.
Imran Khan was favoring Musharraf during its referendum to validate his presidency which he got after a coup in 1999. Nevertheless, Khan after reviewing the attitude of the dictator withdrew his support and became a strong voice against measures of Pervez Musharraf.
An ongoing war of words between Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, PML-N head Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif is intensifying with election day gets near.
Three of them are addressing large gatherings across Punjab, which has the most number of national assembly seats, to attract people.
