Apple has introduced a modern yet efficient data connector “Lightning” with iPhone 5, and now there is a report telling us about next generation of audio and data connectors with future iDevices, may be iPhone 6, iPad 5 or iPod.
Traditional audio connectors employ rounded TRS connector jacks for iDevices, but Apple’s possible new data connectors have been shaped to integrate with USB 4.0, Display Port, DVI, HDMI as well as with product range from Mac to iPhone and future devices like gaming system to holographic project, PatentlyApple reported.
The report stated that as a data connector, proposed connectors use USB signals, FireWire signals, SATA signals besides signals for digital video like HDMI signals, DVI signals and Display Port signals.
The connector, dubbed as Connector 40 in the report, can simultaneously employ contacts like audio plug connector, audio contact, microphone contact, ground contact as well as right audio contact.
The report also describes that the connector is suitable for being used in a wide range of products.
“Portable music players (e.g., MP3 devices and Apple’s iPod devices), portable video players (e.g., portable DVD players), cellular telephones (e.g., smart telephones such as Apple’s iPhone devices), video cameras, digital still cameras, projection systems (e.g., holographic projection systems), gaming systems, PDAs, desktop computers, as well as tablet (e.g., Apple’s iPad devices), laptop or other mobile computers,” the PatentlyApple reported.
Though no one could say anything about patent level technology with authenticity, but we expect the new multipurpose connectors soon with Apple’s new range of products.
