TEHRAN: A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale has struck the parts of Iran.
Tremors were felt in the town of Kaki near the southern Iranian city of Bushehr, without any immediate reports of casualties, Iranian Press TV reported.
However, another report without giving other details said that more than 18 people had been killed in the quake.
According to TheNewsTribe’s correspondent from the area 2 Villages has been completely destroyed in earthquakes. Kaki, the affected area is located some 97 km south of the Persian Gulf port city of Bushehr, home to the Iran’s only nuclear power plant.
Third aftershock of 5.1 magnitudes has reported from the Iranian city Bushehr.
According to the Iranian Seismological Center, the quake struck at 4:22 a.m. local time at a depth of 12 km.
The U.S. Geological Survey said that the quake had a magnitude of 6.3 and struck at a depth of 10 km.
Quake was also felt in Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain and parts of Saudi Arabia.
Mari Romas from CNN reported that the area have recived more than 5 aftershocks in past few hours.
